Consultants: Behavioral Psychologist, Psychiatrist, Medical Doctor, on-call nurse practitioners, dieticians, dentists and physical therapists. Dr. Markopoulos is the active physician for these facilities. His contacts in the community are numerous and ensure that consumers are referred to specialists who understand the developmentally disabled population.

Outings: We take great pride in delivering a wide variety of outings based upon the individual needs of the consumer.  Please see Outings & Activities Page.

Personnel Training: We have an individualized training program for all new staff hired at Hearts of Gold Care Homes, Inc.  Training is based upon the need of each consumer as well as considering the past experience and education of the newly hired employee.  CPR, 1st Aide, P.A.R.T., Safety and Driving classes as well as ’Äúhands on’Äù supervised training are provided.  Administrative and Direct Care Staff are reviewed at clearly defined intervals, thus promoting a need to consistently provide exceptional care.

 

Menus: All menus are prepared by a dietician and according to Title 22 Regulations. All homes can accommodate special dietary needs such as PKU, diabetic menus, pureed meals and weight loss/gain issues.

Transportation: Transportation to and from day programs, doctor & dental appointments, outings and miscellaneous needs are provided on a consistent, safe and comfortable basis. Hearts of Gold Care Homes, Inc. maintains a wheelchair lift vehicle that provides for the temporary or continuous needs of the nonambulatory consumer.

Medical: All staff members who care for consumers with special medical needs are trained by professional medical consultants. Medication disbursement is checked daily by both the House Manager and Administrator. Dr. Markopoulos or his nurse practitioner are on-call for questions or visits seven days per week.

Residence: All Hearts of Gold Homes are located in wonderful neighborhoods.  Consumers are provided with a sturdy, comfortable bed, chest of drawers, bed stand and closet.  Rooms are decorated to provide flavor and warmth.  In some homes these are private rooms, but most consumers share large bedrooms with a compatible room mate.  Personality and behavioral challenges are considered when finding a room mate for new consumers. All homes are air conditioned to provide summer comfort. Most homes have wheel chair accessible showers.
