Program Description:

This program is able to serve consumers who need help with personal care skills, such as bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, language development, sensory awareness, ambulating and eating, as well as those who aspire to work daily and earn some income. Consumers on medications are closely monitored by physicians or specialists as needed.

We also emphasize behavior management dealing with tantrums, hitting, biting, self abuse, etc.  Our program addresses three main target areas:

  • Development of basic self help skills. This program assists consumers to gain the necessary skills to perform personal hygiene, toileting, grooming, dressing, etc. on a semi-independent or independent level.
  • Behavior management for control or extinction of maladaptive behaviors.  Our psychologist will formulate an individual service plan for each consumer.  We use only positive behavior modification programming. No adverse programming will be used. The behavior program will follow IPP objectives and all I.D. team members will have input into this programís development.

Community awareness skills.  We will help the consumer to become safety conscious, learn acceptable behavior, and be involved in community and school functions, as well as learn to appreciate community resources such as the library, community swimming pool and parks.
